Just like the name itself suggests;
Farba
(with a single a) means
Color
in Slovak, my native language.
Welcome to Farbaa Interiors! My name is Andrea Adamicka and I am the founder and lead decorator at Farbaa Interiors where colorful designs take center stage.
I was born in Slovakia, a little country located in the heart of Europe. The memory of my first bedroom, which I shared with my younger sister, still warms my heart. We had these RED twin beds that were definitely the showstoppers of our small room. To balance out the strong presence of the colorful beds, my mom added hand-sewed window curtains using a soft fabric that had the most adorable little ribbon pattern. This is where my journey of color and pattern appreciation began.
After high school, I moved to Munich, Germany to master the language that I had been studying throughout elementary and high school. I was working as a kindermaedchen (nanny) for a successful business woman. Her house was beautifully decorated with carefully selected furniture and collectible art. What I adored the most, was the curved RED sofa she had in her living room. This color kept popping up at different stages of my life and became my go to color.
The next chapter of my life’s journey took me to United States. I came here to learn English and worked as a nanny for a wonderful family in the state of Virginia. Later, I was lucky to be given the opportunity to stay and study. I finished my Bachelor's Degree in International Business and my Master's Degree with a focus in Marketing. My intention was to work in New York City for an international company. So, I packed my belongings and moved. The beginning was stressful; while looking for my dream job, I worked as a food runner and later as a bartender in a two Micheline star restaurant in Manhattan. Things started looking up and I was offered a position as the Marketing Manager at a renowned, global jewelry and watch company.
My main responsibilities were managing the worldwide marketing budget and organizing the biggest watch trade show in the industry that took place in Switzerland. As a result of my hard work, I was provided another opportunity within the same organization. I was offered a role in the Visual Merchandising Department. Our team's responsibility was to make our boutiques look pretty and inviting to clients. Selecting materials for the window decor, fabrics for the display forms, flowers for the floral arrangement, vendors for production…all of this formed the path for my dream to operate my own interior decorating business.
While decorating the boutiques at my corporate job during the day, I attended classes at the Interior Design Institute at night and ultimately earned my Diploma of Interior Design.
I put my newly acquired skills to work and started decorating my own home that I share with my husband and our two children. Creating livable, colorful and memorable spaces for my family was my biggest joy! Seeing the smiles on my children’s faces when they saw their room being created warmed my heart, just like when I was the little girl with the RED bed…
It would be my pleasure to help you turn your
Home
into a colorful, warm space that your family will
Enjoy
and
Remember
for generations to come!
